Graphic designing
has made its relevance since time immemorial. But have you ever wondered how
graphic designing transformed into what it is today? Today, we will walk
through the journey of designing and see what was and what can be the scope of
graphic designing in the coming few years.
You must have read in school that earlier men used to carve
on stones with drawings to convey their message to the people. When kings
started ruling, it was observed that kings ordered to get their good deeds
carved on pillars so that they are remembered by generations.
The three phases of graphic designing -
1. The past
2. The present
3. The future
Let us know each of the phases in brief –
1.
The past –
The term “Graphic Designing” was not coined yet. It was seen that the earliest
designs had typography on books or newspapers. In 1900, posters became a relevant
source of expression. Slowly when people started becoming familiar with
technology, graphic designing emerged.
The 1960s and 1970s
In the 1960s and 1970s radio became commonplace
for advertising through flyers for the show. Also, political protests were at
par. These posters and flyers became a significant way to show their agendas to
the people.
Japanese art became
quite popular among the people as they used symmetry, colors, and icons in the
center to highlight the motive.
The 1980s and 1990s
Computers were affordable and people used paint to draw. It was easy to access
through the Microsoft
tools.
It was in the 1990s that the first version of Photoshop arrived.
This tool gave a broader perspective to the designers’ ability to experiment
with layouts, overlapping, and elements.
2.
The present -
The rise of digital technology and transformation in graphic designing has
changed the way of designing in recent times. Companies look for designers
who can convey the messages in a very simple and lucid manner. Today, designs
are more centric on the customer experience.
3.
The Future -
It can be possible that the past and present combined can be the future of
graphic designing. It will be more customer-centric and appealing to the people.
Mostly, 3D or 5D graphics
will rule the future of graphic designing.
